Will this procedure hurt? 

Because earlobe surgery requires an incision and stitches, there will likely be some discomfort as you heal. Pain medication and compresses can be used to alleviate the post-surgical pain, but pain should be very manageable after a few days. 

What are the possible side effects or health risks of earlobe repair and otoplasty?

Any surgery carries some risks. Dr. Okada will review these with you ahead of the procedure, and gain your consent on several forms. Possible risks might include:

  • Anesthesia risks

  • Asymmetry

  • Bleeding

  • Scarring

  • Changes in skin sensation

How long will my earlobes take to recover? 

Most patients require less than two weeks of recovery after earlobe surgery, in which they can return to their regular lives. It is recommended that patients wait until after six weeks to begin strenuous activity.
