 Preparing for Treatment

  • Initial Assessment

    Dr. Okada will meet with you to discuss your concerns and desires. She will evaluate your moles and potentially will take medical photographs.

  • During Treatment

    Your moles will be removed in our offices, using local anesthesia. If there is any concern that a mole might be cancerous, it will be sent to a lab for evaluation.

  • Recovery Timeline

    The site where the mole was removed may be sensitive for a few days while healing. It will be important to follow Dr. Okada’s directions to avoid infection and scarring.

Will this removal procedure hurt? 

There is some discomfort associated with mole removal, but it is minimal and short-lived. Dr. Okada will use numbing medication for the procedure and help you manage any pain you feel post-surgery.

Though most primary care doctors and dermatologists can remove a mole, plastic surgeons are highly trained to provide the most aesthetically pleasing results and least amount of scarring.
